Overthought Painting

I believe meaning can be relative with some images and themes. This is one of those pictures that could be interpreted in multiple ways. My personal history with the smoking head theme goes a ways back. The origins of its meaning are simply about mental health, thinking too much, the human condition and the challenges of consciousness. I've been painting for over 20 years. This was one of my first themes that I explored and I periodically revisit it. My style and technique has become more advanced in recent years, and this reflects a new take on an established theme. You may see similar images around, but I can confidently say I was one of the first to make a 'smoking head' picture in the 21st century. Maybe ever! I think that's just a fun trivial fact about this work, the image speaks for itself as well as the unique silver and black color scheme and the abstract details of my style are more important.
