Overview Painting

A solid blue orb, a planet delicately suspended. Characters are drawn off the surface of the globe, orbiting and inhabiting the space around it as celestial spirits. They depict a melting pot of civilisations on Earth; ancient, primitive, modern and imaginary. Overview considers being on the edge of a cosmic evolution. Embarking upon higher mysteries with looming new wisdom, may develop an inherent sense of overview within post millennial generations on Earth. The ‘overview effect’ is cognitive shift in awareness reported by some astronauts and cosmonauts during spaceflight, often while viewing the Earth from orbit or from the lunar surface. “We went to the Moon as technicians, we returned as humanitarians” - Edgar Mitchell, Astronaut.
