Collection: Territories The works in this collection take root in the vast or tiny territories of my country. Geographical places occupied, isolated, fragmented, abandoned, ceded, exploited, mapped. These places that identify us or in which we identify ourselves, populated by animals, plants, and sometimes even fantastic creatures. Areas that are sometimes open to the horizon, sometimes mountainous, made up of minerals, ice and filled with spaces, but always surprising and beautiful. Acrylic, graphite and ink on gallery wrapped canvas 3 panels of 76 x 122 x 4 cm (30 x 48 x 1,5 inches) Varnished (satin) to protect against U.V. Sides: white Textured. Palette knife. Ready to hang or to frame. Shipped in a cardboard box with a certificate of authenticity. I work in a spontaneous, intuitive and gestural way, where the unconscious takes up more space than the conscious. I do not seek to represent my environment, but rather to evoke an emotion. I first choose a colour palette, then I spread the paint without really thinking. When I am satisfied with the result, I take a break which allows me to think about the next step. I add details that guide the eye through the work and give it meaning. NOTE: The images in home decor are for display purposes only. Please refer to the exact size provided in the description.

Chantal is a self-taught abstract painter from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Her paintings are collected throughout the world: Canada, United States, Australia, Singapour, Mexico, China and many countries in Europe. Her works has been featured in Circle Quarterly Art Review Magazine, curated by Myrina Tunberg Georgiou. Chantal's abstract paintings express the world through colours, movement and spontaneity. She does not seek to represent her surroundings, but rather to create emotion in the observer. This emotion is undoubtedly the fruit of the interplay of colours and spontaneous gestures that underlie each work. The pigments are applied in large, spontaneous and rapid gestures where the subconscious takes up more space than the conscious. When she starts a painting, she works with pure colours, mixing them right on the canvas. You can still see the brush marks in the final work. She adds crayon, graphite and charcoal marks. Several of her paintings are enhanced with writing. Even as an expressive painter, Chantal pays a special attention to colour balance and composition.
