Pénélope Painting

Inspired by the French Summer Classic film "La Piscine" (Pool), starring icons of Alain Delone, Romy Schneider and Jane Birkin. A teenage guest Pénélope walks into a room of a vacation villa on the French Riviera near St-Tropez and is startled by Jean-Paul, who awaits her there. The painting belongs to the series of "Women Film Icons in Interior Design" by George Hertz. It aims to immortalize stills from iconic films and give an opportunity to viewer to once again take pleasure from the motion picture masterpiece, and women who make them unforgettable. As a rule, in each of these pop-art frames there is a male spectator present, but only women are visible. This underlines women's dual position as both subjects and objects within each painted scene.
