PG and Tat Too Painting

Art reflects the time it was created. In today's global environment the use of symbols and icons allows for instantaneous communication with a visual language that is universal. Such imagery interested me as subject matter because of their abstract and minimalist qualities. Those qualities would determine how they are be painted - with a hard edge and flat. It is a style meant to convey their message without the artist's subjective touch. However, to bring visual interest and complexity, I "fitted" in the icon a realistically rendered figure that comes with a narrative. The day glow magenta and green colors emphasize the unusual combination. For the art collector, this painting exemplifies the terms "thought provoking" and "outside the box." It points to artistic territory yet to be explored.
