About The Artwork

Anasyrma is the instinctive somatic impulse to show the vagina to restore order on Earth, change the energy and / or scare away evil spirits, as narrated in: the Greek myth of Bellerophon or that of Baubo, the ancestral practice of Madras, India, and in the folklore of many cultures, in which the vagina is claimed as a powerful tool for affirmation and transformation. This practice is being replicated even today as an act of transgression and protection. Having grown surrounded by tropical exuberance, I can confirm how the flowers, without censorship, incur in a constant Anasyrma, sticking out their tongues and showing us their genitals, constantly working to change the energy. But the flowers unfold us an Anasyrma with an explosion of color and beauty that allows them to position themselves in places of importance and visibility where human genitals are not “appropriate”: the center of the table, the entrance to the home, altars, podiums, gifts, etc. The color in tropical vegetation exists just to seduce.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I create as means for expression of the female psyche, the exploration of eroticism and the search for freedom through sexuality as a way to counteract the female oppression. My objects are inspired by the tropical exuberance that has always surrounded me and accompany me thru my becoming. I examine forms of nature, especially flowers and their relationship with the erotic and creative energy, using colors, layers, and aggressions to the canvas. I have been inclined to use paint in because of a fascination that I have since I was a child, with colors and visual aesthetics. I also experiment with knits and fabrics because I am passionate about the geometry and the symbolism present in the techniques used historically by women. I have a need to connect with people and contribute in some way to these obsessions.
