About The Artwork
These roses (Alberic Barbier) grow in abundance outside my studio, flowering from May to December.The tight orange buds open into pale yellow fading to gentle white as they age. This painting expresses the fragility and character of these pretty blooms as they journey through their short lives from bud to full blooms. I have always loved the late flower paintings of Eduard Manet.
