This is an original sumi-e painting by professional Artist Brazen Edwards measuring approximately 9.5" x 12.5" (24.13cm x31.75cm) on 140lb Arches rough watercolour paper. Although the Panda may be cute and cuddly in appearance the symbolism behind them means they are very strong. Keep this in mind when making judgments based on first appearances. The black and white colouring depicts the yin yang symbols indicating the importance of balance between masculine and feminine energies. When Panda surfaces it is good to work on balancing anything that is off skelter in your life. 15 percent of sale goes towards Defenders of Wildlife - a national, nonprofit membership organization dedicated to the protection of all native animals and plants in their natural communities. http://www.defenders.org

I grew up on the prairies of Alberta but always felt a particular pull towards the mountains, ocean and warmer weather so after pursuing a career in Criminology, and raising a set of identical twin boys I moved to BC in 2009 and felt inspired. I realized my one true regret in life was putting my art aside for so long, so with the encouragement of my family, I took the initiative and began devoting myself to painting full time and haven't looked back! After leaving such a stressful career, I felt it was necessary to re-evaluate what I focused on, what I attracted into my life and if my creativity can inspire and bring happiness to others then I feel my life has meaning. In 2015, I opened Ellis Art Studios, a 6000sq ft fine art facility located downtown Kelowna that utilizes a mentor–apprentice model to prepares artists, emerging or professional to develop their art and design skills. I now reside in Vancouver, Canada but spend part of the year painting and travelling the world. Along with my studio and exhibition practice, I also provide workshops, consulting, painting demonstrations and organize art events worldwide. My latest project is a long term art residency in Bangkok, Thailand.
