“Passion” Acrylic and Resin on Canvas Painting

This “Confidence” acrylic painting was inspired by the motion of a wave and the white wash that comes from the momentum of this huge body of water. It evolved when I took a picture of a similar piece into photoshop and changed the colour profile. I have a graphic design background and loved playing around with the palate. What resulted was having it printed onto canvas, and then I completely reworked with piece with acrylic paint, swirling and breaking forwards, the black swishes moving past and through the orange and magenta and softer white hues. I finished the piece off with a beautiful and glassy layer of resin. “Confidence” was the feeling that I got from creating this piece. In colour psychology, Magenta is the color of universal harmony and emotional balance. Its contains the passion, power and energy of red, restrained by the introspection and quiet energy of violet. It promotes compassion, kindness and cooperation. The color magenta is a color of cheerfulness, happiness, contentment and appreciation. The orange is a confident colour. It increases oxygen to the brain, which stimulates mental activity and creativity. The black swishes, that motion of the wave moving through - really create such a sense of movement in the piece. In color psychology, black's color meaning is symbolic of mystery, power, elegance, and sophistication - so I like to feel that your power and your best self can move through the layers of pink and orange and that all of these positive attributes can work together in harmony to enhance your sense of self and confidence. I hope that you will look at this, and feel a sense of power and movement that pushes you towards your most confident and empowered self.
