Here, is Paul, a bust of an enslaved man from the pre-revolutionary era of the ancient regime of early modern France, c1500-1789.(Not technically a lost empire, though). He sits against an antique French textile, outlined with colored thread. I was just mulling over how all empires come to an end, sooner or later.
