PENCIL ERASER STRING Painting

I'm intrigued by that realm in painting which exists between non-representational marks and representation. By juxtaposing the two, an illusory division between two manifestations of paint is created. The trompe l'oeil illusion is heightened if the artwork is hung under a light source that is above and to the left. You'll need to get close to see that the objects are clearly just paint, just like the background! This 12" x 16" oil painting on board is suspended by a coarse steel braided wire attached by two holes drilled directly through the board. This presentation plays with the idea of raw materials versus finish, just as the abstract paint marks and "fool the eye" paint strokes are contrasted. Hanging wire is provided as part of the artwork. Wall hanger not provided.
