About The Artwork

I paint the thoughts. Those who accompany us everywhere, which make our minds a noisy and teeming station platform. It never stops. Sometimes, however, we manage to calm them down, to hold them back a little. They don't disappear, they calm down, ready to leap again in all directions. I discovered that I am aphantasy, my brain is blind. If I ask you to visualize an apple, you are 97% of the population to see it. I don't see anything. The apple, I conceive it in my thoughts, I describe it to myself with words, precise words, words that speak to me of the color of the fruit, its taste, the shine of its skin, its smooth touch ... But I do not see it. If I look deeply at what my brain is constructing as images, I only see geometric shapes in motion. A spot of light, a ray, a line, lines in all directions. No picture. Aucune image.

French artist living near Paris Drawing and painting have always been with me as well as the certainty that my thoughts, too numerous, had to be laid on the canvas to encumber me a little less. I recently discovered that my brain does not work like everyone else: I am "aphantasy". My brain is blind. It was the revelation: this is why I have always had to paint and draw, I have to make visible what my blind brain cannot show me. I don't visualize any apple, but I can create it.
