ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Inspired by nude blush, pastels and some zesty greens, this abstract landscape is softly dramatic. It is layered with many marks and under painting, creating a journey for the eye. I paint on unstretched canvas for a few reasons. I prefer the hardness of the surface on the floor or pinned to the wall. My finished paintings are rolled carefully and can be stored upright in tubes, taking up less room. Our humid weather in North Queensland isn't kind to stretcher bars and I have had too many that do not measure up to my standard of straight, especially when the work may be framed in expensive oak to finish it. This piece will stretch at approximately 80 cm square, maybe larger if thin profile stretcher bars are used. The image you see here has been cropped to how it would stretch over large bars. Whichever bars are used, this is something I have considered in regard to my composition. Oil pastel marks have been sealed. Thank you for viewing my work!

Feelings of Painted Poetry....inspired by Nature. I am an abstract painter who loves nature, colour and design. It's always an intuitive and spontaneous process and very much about the process itself. Expressing what I feel, capturing moments of imagination, fragments of memories, I find happiness in the physical process of putting down marks and colour and letting the paint and colour direct me. It is a playful process in an exploratory way through many layers. I love drawing and scribbling as an added dimension of expression within my work and use charcoal, graphite, pencils or oil pastels for creating my personal marks. Painting is a healing and comforting act for me, and I paint for myself first. Some pieces are then ready to be shared and they go out into the world. My paintings teach me about myself and are like a mirror for my life and emotions. I strive to be an authentic painter, one who bares the soul through this healing art form. If a painting speaks to the viewer emotionally, my creative experience is completed on an even deeper level. My purpose as an artist is to create art that is alive. That is of serene beauty or with a touch of intrigue, perhaps lighthearted and joyful, maybe dark and deeply mysterious. Above all, I wish to create a sense of wonder, to invite curiosity and reflection. My artworks are feelings of painted poetry, created from pieces of myself and my personality. My artwork is purchased by collectors worldwide.
