About The Artwork
Chinese Ink on unprimed canvas with bamboo poles. 'Pistis Sophia', 'Muse', 'Sanctum', 'Harmony' and 'The One' were made with Chinese black ink and with 'The Fallen Angels' and 'Passion' I introduced colour. It's a body of work inspired by dance, movement, martial arts and meditation. Pistis Sophia is the embodiment of Female divinity, wisdom and knowledge in the Gnostic texts. She is part of the higher mysteries that reveal itself to the soul. I see her as a force of nature running in the wind free from everything material on this plane. I have tried to capture her in her raw energy form. Pistis Sophia is said to originate and dwell outside of the divine realm.

I am a artist based in Brighton-UK. I have always been interested in the body's interaction within space and the energy it creates. Since my exhibition When Heaven Meets Earth I have worked in a Japanese/ Chinese style hangings like scrolls. Painted on un-stretched pieces of canvas which allows me the freedom of just being in the moment and using the brush as an extension of my own body in my own little universe. My artwork has been heavily influenced over the years by different forms of dance, martial arts and sound. I also practice meditation which has become part of my practice before even creating the work.
