About The Artwork

Pop-art Abstract Beer Alcohol Agony 202 Acrylic on Stretched Canvas 50cm x 60cm x 0.5cm (20 inches x 24 inches x 0.5 inches) Pop-art is all about modern popular culture and the mass media. My clip-art is a variant of this, taking inspiration from today's news media and combining it with today's obsession. The work has a poster, abstract feel is highly visible, colourful and textual adding impact and colour to any wall. With a lot of cooking, shows and celebrity food advertising on all media It's hard to ignore. An artist's interpretation or spin on the subject is irresistible. I wanted a poster pop-art look with the food looking thick, textured and glistering fresh goodness, but with the spin of a message no advertising company would dare! Another angle is the agony alcoholics go through is soul-destroying. Its comic clip art representation was in symbol of how advertising simplify the look and manipulates the image to show what looks nice but never looks the same out the box. The lettering is in part advertising but have twisted to mean how it is not how you imagine. The background light and colourful, not red as I first thought of doing. The cuttings from a newspaper, which is becoming rare these days with social media and mobile use.
