About The Artwork
As a potter, I work in stoneware and porcelain, and it's like painting, ie. it's an ever evolving (and hopefully improving) skill. These ceramic vases in various shapes and sizes were created on the wheel, with the exception of the porcelain cylinder. All pieces have been sold. But, I wanted to have a reference to this vase collection as kind of a benchmark to what I would or could do in the future. In short, it's a fine art painting or illustration of modern ceramics - and it does seem old just in the treatment of the painting. There is no hardware attached to the canvas. Where do I see this? It is really a decorator's dream or nightmare! Amongst other black/white paintings or photography, as a backdrop to a collection of colourful pottery by various artists, or in a dark den with other different types of collections?

Sandra Lee Kennedy Born, raised and live in Toronto. I made a tour of the art schools here. From the University of Toronto, I studied fine art, including drawing under David Rifat. I studied illustration and design at the Ontario College of Art, and have augmented my painting instruction with forays at the Toronto School of Art and the Art Gallery of Ontario. A few years ago, I went to the Mendocino Art School in California specifically to paint with Rosemary Allen; I hard a hard time determining the logic behind abstract painting. Having worked in marketing communications for over 40 years, I am just beginning to spend time working on canvases, drawings and ceramics. That’s one of my excuses for not showing and selling my work earlier beyond our living room.
