About The Artwork

Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding." - Kahlil Gibran; The Prophet. As a little boy I read this book at home with my mom over and over again. It was in its original packaging from 1930 something and my mom still has it...I think. The Prophet could be considered one of the first self help books around and it was pure poetry. I learned a lot and used to understand it better back then... maybe i should go back and read it. I thought of the book and Kahlil when I was painting this. The image came to me from something I saw somewhere years ago. It is not ISIS it's "Sl" over and over again as is in "yes" as in positive. As in you have to remain positive over and over again in life no matter what. Even when it feels like Big Brother is watching. Mixed media on Wood panel.
