My work investigates human interaction and its traces. After getting married, Moving into a new household, and with our busy lifestyles, assembling for dinner at the table was the only time I got to interact and bond with my new family members. Hence, through my paintings, I have tried to explore how the dining table commonly plays a key role in fostering communication, thus, facilitating social and communal behavior. Further intrigued by the intricacies of social gatherings, I went on to explore the various emotions, moods, and relationships that are generated when people come together. The concept of a union often overlooks the latent divisions and discordances that occur within this assemblage. While omitting physical human presence from my visuals, I have attempted to depict complexities such as power and social politics of gatherings through the arrangement and displacement of chairs and tables- the most commonly used tools in social gatherings. With colors, lines, and layering, my painted sketches aim to study the shifting and fluid nature of social interactions; both intimate and communal, in their most natural state.
