About The Artwork

Acrylic paint, oil pastels and cold wax on 100% cotton stretched canvas. Most of the people who know me describe me as a quiet person, I'm often told that I make people around me feel calm and serene and that's probably true but there are days when I feel like my mind is a kind of blender with so many ideas, thoughts, visions inside of it! The only way I'm able to let them out is through my art. This painting, Quiet Chaos, is inspired by this feeling. In order to protect the painting from discolouring, it has been sealed with a matte waterbased varnish.

Evelyn La Starza is an eclectic contemporary artist, constantly experimenting. Her art could be summed up as spontaneous joy of using paint, expressing emotions and inner visions throught colors and shapes. The way she paints is introspective and intuitive. Born and raised in Milan, after traveling and living in different cities and places, she's currently residing in northern Italy, in a picturesque town by the lake, surrounded by nature, one of her biggest sources of inspiration. Besides nature, she's inspired by human psyche, emotions and feelings which she expresses through her art. Her main artistic influences are Willem De Koonig, Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, Gerhard Richter, Joan Mitchell, Jean Michel Basquiat and Jean Dubuffet. Self-taught artist, she's been painting for more than 30 years, since teenage, when she would find in art a way to comfort her introspective and introvert soul. Growing up, she worked as an interior decorator and later as a jewellery-accessory designer, founding her own brand in 2004. At some point, after 15 years of successful career in this field, she realised it was time to dedicate all her time to painting. All the artworks painted in the last thirty years are in private collections. Showcasing from November 28 - December 10, 2022 during Art Basel Week/Miami Arts week, in the art hotspot Wynwood.
