Raggedy Ann's Journey Painting

This Abstract/ surrealism painting with great texture was Done by Carlston Henry. (There is only one ever Made in the world and there will never be no duplicates or Prints produced from this piece. I was inspired to paint this from a close friend of mine who went through the most difficult struggle growing up . The raggedy Ann doll in the painting represents her soul as she is holding that red suitcase. After being molested from bad men and beaten, from her drunk obnoxious mother at the tender age of 7. Her mother died and she was left with her 16 year old brother alone to fend the world by themselves. She and her brother owned a red suitcase with all of their belongings. She always hugged a raggedy Anne doll while sleeping and traveling for a new life. They stood by the edge of the deserted road in Edmonton trying to hitch rides to Toronto for a better life...They were leaving the reserve and all of the traumatic memories behind, but the memories stuck to this day... I feel like viewers will look at this peace and automatically feel concerned, but captivated by the focal point of the dolls saddened face. They'll definitely want to know why she's so sad and why she's holding a red suitcase. Spray paint drippings and acrylic . overlapping dried paint with colorful layers was needed. Blues, whites, and vibrant oranges allow me to give this piece more of a storyline. For the background middle ground and foreground. I wanted the painting to feel chaotic due to the story behind painting this in the first place, so abstract with a realistic picture of a doll on top would have been the perfect combination too Express that. And so I did.
