Painting: Acrylic, Oil, Spray Paint, Paint, Ink on Stone, Wood.
This is a mixed media acrylic painting on wood . It's very shiny , and looks even better in person . There are very tiny stones found beside my grandfathers dream home that he designed in England after fighting in World War Two , durying a healing adventure that he designed for himself to cure himself from the trauma of the war . The adventure involved visiting many , many castles for months , in England because his parents were born there so he felt a connection . He fell in love with one castle more than the rest , and sat down in the grass beside it for days and days , studying the Tutor design from every angle , through multiple drawings in his sketchbook . It took him ten years to find the right hill to build it on , in Grand Valley , Ontario Canada , which suited his very specific vision . It had to have a river which would serve as a moat around it . It had to be situated on a hill with a good view . It had to be in an area with woods . He named it High Country Friths Castle and I was fortunate to grow up there . This canvas frame was built there by my father , and the painting was initially formed there , using texture from the ground ( using soil and tiny rocks ) . I have always loved land deeply so I wanted to express that love . The soil and rocks are blended with high caliber Golden Acrylics texture medium . This piece is filled with many deep layers of colour with healing high vibrational energy and iridescent light . This piece has been so much fun to create and therefore has literally taken almost forever to complete, on purpose . The piece was finished in my art studio in an old growth forest in the Cowichan Valley , about an hour drive north of Victoria on Vancouver Island . The piece emits an aura that is very calm , , therapeutic , vibrant and uplifting . It is by far one of the best pieces that I have yet to create , and will always remain one of my favourite works of art in the world .
