About The Artwork
A large abstract oil on canvas painting. Combining nature, contrast and my subconscious mark making. A dream like landscape with suggestions of things one may recognise. This piece has gone through many changes. It began with using a large piece of plastic to apply and spread oil paint around the canvas. The thick oils were then removed leaving exciting marks on the canvas. I would then apply more strokes using thick amounts of paint. Some of it I left and other parts I removed once more. I repeated this process while introducing my use of colour, balance, structure and depth. It's in this stage my feelings, imagination and the need to create somthing beautiful came into play. I wanted the colours to dance around the canvas giving a feel of freedom, happiness and a hint of danger. The painting is loose and fluid, one must take risks as the rewards are there! Each individual mark in this painting serves a vital purpose to making this artwork successful

My work is a reflection of what builds up inside me over time. When I'm not painting my mind is recharging, gathering feelings, thoghts, emotions, memories and experiences which are released onto the canvas often in an energetic and violent manner.
