About The Artwork

As soon as I see these doors. I thought of the doors. With Jim Morrison. I then proceeded to paint his portrait upon the door. Then marked out a silhouette over him of a woman. To represent the song. La woman, which he sang. I felt it brave to do this, as I was so happy with the portrait. There’s also a dancing girl in the corner. With the bands title. Marked on the right side. How could you not paint jimi Hendrix was the next thought. So upon the next door I painted jimi in gold. He’s shirt buttons. Look like eyes with the world within them. Global. On the flip side B of these doors are Guns ‘n’ Roses. Reprinted by Slash & Axel Rose. And it says enter the jungle. I feel these two doors are real bold musical statement pieces. They are different sizes and I feel should be sold as a pair. The smaller door is 72 inches high and 26 inches wide and 1 inch deep. The larger door is 76.5 inches high and 29.5 inches wide and 1.5 inches deep.

Artist statement (Steven Haddock). I feel that art gives me a freedom of expression. Escaping the world and life around me. Whilst allowing my emotions and feelings to colourfully translate, how I feel to the viewer. About each given subject. Chosen to create and discuss. Through the medium of art. Which can sometimes feel intuitive and impulsive. The love of colour is evident & central to my practice giving a positive edge. Along with my unique style from both the school of life, and the school of art. Another love feeds my creativity, as an artist. Allowing me to feed off of its energy & that’s music, which has emotion & feeling, along with energy to feed from and loose yourself in. With a confident and dedicated nature of self belief. I feel I’ve developed a certain conviction. In every line/ stroke needed to communicate and connect with the viewer(s). Influential to me has been graffiti. Seen on the tube train. Not just the culture with both music & society, but the confident, almost cocky and convicted approach. As I’ve developed, as an artist. And been through life & schooling. Van Gogh, Basquiat and Picasso. Have been influential, as you can probably see, in my work. Without my even noticing, or maybe I’m just me. And have something in common. Although apart from my B.A. Fine Art Degree, my only acalade is being acknowledged by saatchiart.com and having a collection featured in the top one hundred, some time ago.
