Reflections of boats in Sanary harbor Painting

: This oil painting is a semi-abstract treatment of one of my favourite subjects reflections of fishing boats, usually old traditional ones, in the water. I I started working on this theme in 2014, painting watercolours of boat reflections in Mediterranean harbours, mainly Sète and Sanary because you find there a lot of old fishing boats. Then I used these watercolor studies to realise oil paintings. I love the abstract effect given by the reflections of these bright coloured Mediterranean boats. This particular oil was painted on a linen canvas in my studio over a period of eight months in successive glazes. There are between 6 to 14 thin layers of thin transparent paint, depending on the opacity of the pigment. This process gives a lot of depth and increases luminosity but it's very slow since a fortnight drying is required between each layer.
