This work is part of a triptych called 'In Quest of the Self' and is not sold separately.

This is the first painting of the triptych. Its title is Regresus (Latin "regress") and it refers to the process of individuation that is the becoming one's Self.

The trilogy was inspired by a big dream I had many years ago.

The image is a metaphor of the process of getting back and down to the deep subconscious realms where one could confront their past and their basic instincts and unknown parts of the personality.

The general idea of the trilogy is that a person needs to pass through a regressive stage in order to realize some basic principles that would later help them progress again.

The other two stages (referred to in the other two paintings) are: 2. Constitutio (Latin "constitution") and 3. Progressus - Transcendentia (Latin "progress - transcendence").
