remains (no suspect) Painting

The painting is a carefully layered piece of work, telling the story of a woman facing the loss of her partner. We see the police, ominously imparting the news of his demise. The title alludes to body parts, no suspect could be natural causes or that they've come to a dead end. Is she smiling or crying? Is it a brave face or subtle pleasure at freedom? I want the viewer to feel unsettled by the painting, unsure of the crime, the blame, the result. The initial white ground for the patterns to sit on top of was worked on for months, layering and layering before sanding and scraping to reduce it. The scuffed and dirtied effect results in a worn, old looking kitchen - stained tablecloth, grubby floors. Neglect. This piece is on galvanised steel, and can be mounted on a wall in many ways. I would recommend framing the piece to preserve the paint, but it can be mounted onto magnets on the wall, or propped on a narrow shelf.
