This art work shows a couple on metal foil as a form of mixed media finished with oil pastel on etched metal foil background. This piece was inspired by studies on human relations. In every human activity there are observers and in romance, people like to see how it goes. In the body posture of this couple you can see that her body posture reveals that she's accepting his proposal and they are coming to a resolution regarding their relationship and the metal etchings all around them, as with most of my works, reveal that there are many distant and close up observers in the etched background.

Nigeria
Ighodalo George is a British-Nigerian visual artist known for his profound and exciting mixed media works. His art is influenced by studies of the works of professor Yussuf Grillo, El Anatsui and Picasso and he draws inspiration from the study of life and how man reacts to natural occurrences in life while he's calm and while he's under stress; what troubles man on Earth and the response that flows from his spirit. The unique and eclectic nature of his works has steered major discussions in the Nigerian art scene and also influenced other artists to explore similar styles while he always evolves a form of media to perfection and develops even more with fast succession. He has remained steadfast, developing divergent new expressions in his art over the past 3 decades. Born and raised in Lagos Nigeria, he is an artist with great skill in expressing his art through multiple media including visual art, sculpture, poetry, mixed media on canvas, on board, gold foil on canvas, on wood and different media, and media that are available either from the art shop or from his forays which he turns into materials that best express his inspiration. Why does he use particular media and techniques? That's because somethings are not best expressed with oil on canvas or charcoal, but a different medium entirely and so the feel and effect of the desired achievement determines what medium and technique to be used and then different rich media can be infused into a single artwork. George was already practicing art from childhood and eventually went on to study art at Yaba College of Technology where he bagged a national diploma in general art and a higher national diploma in painting. In 1995, early in his career, he showed his art alongside late master artist - Ben Enwonwu, El Anatsui, Bruce Onobrakpeya and several others at the world Intellectual property exhibition in Geneva titled "An Exhibition of Contemporary Nigerian Art". His works are often described as engaging, emotionally and critically in all aspects of man's journey on Earth. He has held several individual and group exhibitions and also won awards including winner of Caterina de Medici 3rd black heritage Painting Competition award, Nike art gallery, Lagos, Nigeria.
