Ribbon Painting

"Ribbon" - acrylic on canvas, 12 x 12 x 1.5 inches, 2017. Exhibited and SOLD at Adultcon, September 22-24, 2017 in Los Angeles. "Ribbon" is a kink / burlesque pop art painting, part of a new phase in my loosely defined series "Cross the Line." The series is inspired by Justice Potter Stewart's statement that when it comes to pornography, "I'll know it when I see it." "Ribbon" is part of an ongoing artistic challenge to Justice Stewart's opinion; the goal is to use blur any boundary between art and porn, to engage the viewer with imagery they might otherwise eschew. "Ribbon" was exhibited at Sexcon in Chicago on 4/26/17 and at the Raw Artists: CUSP show in Seattle on 3/16/17. His work was seen at the Chicago Sexcon on 4/26/17, the Seattle Erotic Art Festival on 4/28-4/30/17, and Failed Films on 4/29/17. Larson has exhibited in galleries such as Acid Axiom in Seattle, Dark Star and North Bank in Vancouver, and the Oregon Society of Artists in Portland. He has participated in solo and group shows in varied locations such as the Wonderland Pop Culture Emporium in Los Angeles, Mr. Pickles Sandwich Shop in Sacramento, and Holocene in Portland. CRD Larson's erotic artwork has been published online (with an interview) in Cvisuali and in print by Plumplandia (Portland 'zine). His psychedelic LP cover art has been included in publications such as in Shindig!, Record Collector News, and Mudkiss Fanzine.
