Roman Paradise 1 Head (blue) Painting

Born in Torquay, South Devon, Empty Eye initially forged a successful career in music, touring extensively and working for trip-hop pioneers Tricky and Portishead; and having his music used for film and TV. Empty Eye then went on to receive an FDA with distinction in fine art from Plymouth University and a BA Hons in fine art from London Metropolitan.   He has exhibited his work extensively including the RCA and the Royal Academy. His work is an assemblage of fragmented ideas and memories drawn from childhood influences and popular imagery, that references everything from film and TV science fiction, 70s pinups, classical sculpture, Hanna Barbara style cartoons and Japanese flora art. With the escapism of his childhood often underpinning his work, his paintings examine the tension between attraction and malevolence, artificiality and naturalism, fantasy and reality. Empty Eye lives and works in London.
