About The Artwork
I'm inspired by the organic shapes of the flowers purely as a formal consideration, i.e. I am not a gardener. The Mason jars were "borrowed" from some of Janet Fish's work. Roses of Sharon bushes have taken over my yard. I see them from my studio window. I return to flowers as a subject often, especially the ones with floppy, translucent petals. My flowers are always lit with natural light. I love expressing the delicacy of the flower as it's observed under the bright sun.
