Ross-on-Wye No.1 Painting

Walking and wondering around in the village of Ross-on-Wye in the UK in the summer of 2022, if found ultimate beauty in the color combinations in the facades and window frames. These were gems of inspiration for me and led to the creation of art fitting the series of Elysian Quest. "Elysian Quest" is an immersive and sensitive art series that reflects on my personal quest for timeless harmony, serenity and my take on ultimate aesthetics and refinement. "Elysian Quest" focuses on the exploration of the sublime, with each piece being an abstract visual translation of beauty and perfection found in everyday life. The series embodies a harmonious interplay of color, form and emotion, creating an atmosphere of tranquillity and exaltation. With the artworks, I want to invite the viewer to contemplate and have a moment of escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, thereby 'rejuvenating' your senses. The name "Elysian Quest" was inspired by ancient mythology and the Greek description of the afterlife. In Greek mythology, the Elysian Fields (or Elysium) was considered a paradisiacal place where the souls of the virtuous went after death. It was an area of unparalleled beauty, peace and bliss. The Elysian Fields were described as an idyllic setting where harmony, serenity and perfection reigned. I chose "Elysian" as a tribute to this classic notion of an ideal world, where beauty and serenity converge. "Elysian Quest" acts as an invitation to explore the enchanting and timeless aesthetic and enjoy artworks inspired by classical ideals of perfection and bliss. It brings a sense of heritage and reference to a timeless vision of paradise and invites contemporary contemplation and aesthetic appreciation.
