About The Artwork

Originally created for my parents as a gift, "Ruby Wedding" is an abstract artwork which is full of symbology, related to a long-term relationship and has a poem inscribed directly into the imagery. It is believed that parents should give children life, roots, and wings. The characters of the painting include two parents (the newlyweds), two daughters, and four grandchildren. The daughters stand to the sides, like witnesses of the union, while the grandchildren are at the forefront. One daughter is more grounded and rooted; she is in the forefront but hides behind her dad. Another daughter has wings but is positioned a little toward the background in comparison to her sister. The roots are seen on the bottom of the groom because the roots come from the father. The life is seen in blood-colored strokes in the hearts, hands, and vein-looking parts of the bride's dress because life comes from the action and love and is very much rooted in the mother. The circles represent forty years of marriage. Each circle is a complete cycle: thirty-six of them are hanging above bride and groom heads, and four are reflected in each of the grandchildren at the exact spot in which they have inherited the traits of the grandparents (the heart, the third eye, the brain). The smallest boy and the girl can also be viewed as extensions of the bride and the groom because they are the most connected to grandparents out of all. The wings are in the background in a shape of the wings of the butterfly, which symbolizes the transformation and the completion of the big journey. Forty is a symbolic number and represents the journey from the past to the future. Thirty-six circles are three full cycles of twelve years, which according to Chinese Zodiac is a length of a complete cycle. (C) 2005 TRANSLATED POETRY (ENGLISH) Darling, are you sleeping? Let's talk About life horses that run into the distance, And about the sadness, which, like a silent rainy storm, Washes away the colors of resistance. Come on, let’s forgive each other for the fuss ... It's not our fault that we hurry along the endless loop And want to live, completely forgetting about us And the overwhelming burden of aging youth. Can you smell barefoot autumn residue? The scent is tart. You probably don’t like it. Do you remember how you spoon-fed me the dew And swore that you would write me poems? Let's take a look at tomorrow: I see a baby crib. A boy extends his arms as if he wants a hug ... Your eyes are closed ... I think you are asleep ... And I am dreaming ... Well, good night, my love! (C) 2005 *** All original paintings include a certificate of authenticity and a piece of original and translated poetry with an autograph attached to the back of the painting.

Elena Emma's unique painting and writing style exudes infinite inner depth and freedom. All of her paintings, completed with an illustrative playful touch, have a piece of unique, immensely deep poetry dedicated to them, contrasting the complexity of adult-like subjects with child-like strokes. As a diverse writer, emerging artist, startup consultant and entrepreneur, a professor, a mother of two boys, and a passionate, curious, and spiritual woman, Elena draws her inspiration from experiential fearlessness, deep observational analysis, continuous soul searching, and never-ending internal and external growth. Her visual and written stories, often told from a female perspective, concentrate on exploring the larger picture in business, love, and being. They stimulate the reader and the viewer with open-ended questions and strong encouragement to find his or her own truth. Her characters and situations are multi-dimensional, and through them, she often challenges widely-accepted designations of personal and professional, new and old, right and wrong, good and bad, blurring the preset differences between these terms, and offering new definitions. Elena is the authentic "voice" of her generation, of those born in the 1980s and 1990s to a world of distorted physical, geographical, and moral boundaries, who are yet to find balance between the inborn inner wisdom and cynical dissonance of outside happenings. Be it fiction, nonfiction, poetry, or paintings, Elena Emma's artwork will leave you mildly teary-eyed and contemplative about your own daily existence and the changes you can make to it. THE SKY IS NO LIMIT.
