About The Artwork
This is one of a series of works from drawing sessions at the Mall Gallery. the standing figure was drawn from life with charcoal. Later the seascape around the figure. The story that Arab people tell of the mysterious green man, Khadir, came to mind. Khadir, according to legend, appears when we are in fear for our lives. More recently the artist qchanged the name to the crossing reflecting the danger and desperation of the people trying to make the journey across the channel and the life threatening situation that the sea can so easily put one in.
