Nearly 500 miles above our heads, a series of satellites continues a silent vigil recording the changes that nature and people impose on planet Earth.Landsat8 is the latest satellite specifically used to study the status of large swaths of vegetation, how urban development changes the landscape and how much influence natural disasters have on the surrounding area. Scientists display their data using a combination of natural color and infrared images. While the images tell researchers what they need to know about how Earth changes over time, they also reveal the beauty of our planet. The lush vegetation along mighty rivers, farmland crowded into mountain valleys and windswept ice sheets look like dabs of paint or streaks of color from a satellite's point of view in space.

Tobias Hoffmann Artist geb. 1972 in Lüdenscheid (nrw) - wohnt/wirkt in Augsburg "Es sind bis jetzt auf dieser Welt fast noch gar keine Bilder gemalt worden“ - auch wenn mancher sagen mag es gibt eine unendliche Anzahl an Künstlern und Kunstwerken und überhaupt ist ja alles Kunst und jeder hat seinen künstlerischen Ausdruck als Mensch. Dieses Zitat – und ich weiß ehrlich gesagt gar nicht von wem es stammt – motiviert mich jeden Tag mehr Bilder in die Welt zu bringen und Menschen damit zu begeistern oder in Staunen zu versetzen. Und es hält mich davon ab zu denken- Ach, es ist doch schon alles mal dagewesen und - es gibt doch nicht wirklich noch irgendwas Neues auf dem Kunstsektor, Markt, Galerien oder wo auch immer. Das stimmt einfach überhaupt nicht. Ich denke jeder kann in jedem Augenblick was Neues entdecken und auch erschaffen. Die Welt wartet auf mehr und mehr und mehr Kunst. Ja sie besteht im Grunde ausschließlich nur aus Kunst und wird von Kunst genährt.
