Scuola di Atene Painting

Lina Buso is a visual artist born in Lima, Peru. She is based in Santiago, Chile, where she develops her work from painting and drawing around cultural syncretism, aesthetic miscegenation, the traditional and the popular in different formats and mediums. The images represent, for the most part, a conjunction between the Andean imaginary and the classic European Baroque decoration, represented in the history of Flemish paintings by masters such as El Bosco, Brueghel, Van Eyck, Van Dyck among others quoted by the artist. The work also transcends political subjects in which irony and suspicion for the construction of the image are the common transversal factor in the development of the narrative. From fine irony, irreverent, without gross or violent pretensions. The works, in any of their formats, have a subtle, delicate aspect but with a strong political discourse.
