About The Artwork

Motivation for "Left behind" "My project "Left behind ", the feeling of "being left behind" relates to the animal depicted. An animal that is extinct or threatened with. The environmental issues and hunting. Let down by man. Man, through his own negligence, is guilty of his own downfall. This world I want to create is post-apocalyptic in nature. Taking into account the thought; "What if one is the only one left in the decrepit world." As often in my work, in 'Left behind', melancholy and beauty remain closely linked. Because the animal is small in size, I force the viewer to travel, discover the painting. The journey is characterized by my signature handwriting. The fading lines (sfumato) evoke a dreamy atmosphere. After painting women for a long time, it is time to set things straight. Since my studies I have not used the subject of nature / animal welfare anymore, but has surfaced through the project "Left behind". " Marko Klomp 2019

The Dutch poet and painter Marko Klomp studied at the St. Joost art academy in Breda from 1994 to 1998. Marko is guided in his paintings by different facets of contrast. The use of a blurry focus is characteristic of his work. In 2012 Marko participated in the TV program "Sterren op het doek" where he won with his portrait of Jeroen Krabbé. In addition, he was allowed to participate in 2015 in the final of the program in which Hanneke Groenteman was the model herself. Marko also made a guest appearance on the TV program "Krabbé searches van Gogh". Here Marko was allowed to follow in the footsteps of Vincent van Gogh by giving his interpretation of the work of the grandmaster in the heart of Montmartre. Poetry has always been close to his paintings. In 2010 Marko made his debut with his poetry collection "Splinting the lifeline".
