Art Description

Painting: Acrylic, Pastel, Pencil, Gouache, Ink on Paper.

It was, in part, inspired by the city of Tokyo, the Japanese Art of calligraphy - shodō (書道) and also by the new environment that I now find myself living in (Bavaria)

I am interested in the relationship between symbols and the possibility of meaning that they contain.

The process for me is very important. I add and remove textures and marks until a form appears which I then develop (a piece of work can take months of re-working)

This work was produced on Natural white water colour paper (300g) with a smooth surface. I used a variety of materials including, high quality acrylics / pastels / (colour) pencils / ink / ink stamp(s) / gesso /spray paint
