Ship of State Painting

During our recent political elections, a story emerged about people burning down cell phone towers to prevent the spread of the Covid virus. The power tower I selected was inspired by the giant T of various Trump properties, and the conflagration became an expression of the volatility and destructiveness brought on by the Trump administration policies. I wanted to work at a larger scale, in a manner similar to the murals of Thomas Hart Benton. The foundation image was spray painted using taped stencils, which was covered by multiple layers of oils to weave between the stars and stripes.
