Shyness Painting

“Shyness” is also related to my mother and I created the artwork by using the same technique as for the artwork “Summer love” to make the artwork authentic. My mother used to be a woman who could express herself and show herself in beautiful dresses, but she was also a shy and insecure, sometimes even a bit of a naïve person. I especially remember her in her green dress that fitted so beautifully with her red hair. My mother had natural red hair and especially in her youth it shined bright and made her special. I intended to capture her shy side, because that is a character trait I can also identify with. Sometimes I catch myself in situations where I remember myself of my mother when being or acting shy although I am also an extrovert person. Although my mother was an alcoholic, was violent and suffered from manic depression, that is not all she was. Over the past few years that became clearer and clearer to me and by creating this series – which is also a saddening process sometimes – my artworks help me to focus on positive aspects and creating this series enabled me to value my mother even after a lot of pain and hate. I enjoy remembering her being shy in her green dress with all her conspicuous features – it brings me peace.
