Skiapods Preparing To Rest Painting

During the MA I began to diversify my practice and move away from stone. During ‘lockdown’ I continued to draw and paint. The work is completed quickly and with minimal or no planning. It is material led and non-conceptual. I like the work to reveal itself to me and I enjoy identifying potential symbols the Unconscious may be using to communicate with my conscious state. Here I see a representation of the Unconscious attempting to congeal data into a form that is understandable or useful to the conscious mind. This was something of an experiment with oil on paper and the oil has leached a halo into the paper which I like but others may not.
