Sofonisba Anguissola is one of the rare female painters that entered into art history (to fall out again at the other end, judging from the amount of people that know her). The female painters, if any, were hardly ever recognised. We do know Frida Kahlo (she is about the only one) because she was made into an icon. Brutal media tv commisioned me with the piece. They filmed the making of, for a documentary on the 200st anniversary of the Prado museum in Madrid
