Solo Painting

Using the bird's small body as a counterpoint to the vastness of the sky and ocean, we are reminded how small we are in this universe. The "feel" of wind was achieved with choppy waves and a sky mottled with texture. Solo was created by layering cerulean blue and white for the sky and ultramarine blue, Prussian blue, and manganese blue for the ocean. As these blues began to dry, I highlighted the waves with white, Dioxazine purple and deep violet. Primarily, I used a palette knife but also used several brushes.
