This piece is an impressionistic artwork loosely based on the South West Coast, UK. Inspiration derived from our excursions, starting at Port Isaac in Cornwall touring up towards Sandymouth, near Bude. The last photograph shows where I found my creative vision for this painting. A bright yellow sky is reflect in the eye of the wave and in the water drifting towards the shore. The morning sky is parting, with lavender and mauve clouds moving towards the edges, there are two sets of vandyke brown rocks along the horizon and two rocky outcrops in the foreground, with artistic tones of rustic red, terracotta orange and autumn brown. The sea waves are Prussian blue, with splashes of tangerine orange and lemon yellow. A Certificate of Authenticity will be provided for this artwork.

The subject matter I work with varies from representing shape and form to intricate details. I am enchanted by nature, whether it be the wilderness or garden flowers, these feelings permeate into the drawings via my pencil or brush. Through my floral artwork I aim to bring the fresh outdoor air into our homes, you can imagine the smell and feel the texture from the marks I have created on the paper. Living with the beauty of the environment, via an artwork hung on the wall, reminds us to take a breath and reconnect with Mother Earth. I strive to show the viewer or collector the power of flora and the joy a simple but intricate posy can bring. Being present in the garden and surrounded by nature is good for the heart and mind, tending to the flowers frees the mind from all of life’s troubles. A flower’s beauty, delicacy and ability to thrive is what keeps me at my desk, day after day perfecting the perfect pencil drawing or contending with watercolours to keep the brilliance in a Geranium petal in my studio. I endeavor to share with the artistic connoiseurs the power of nature and how a simple but ornate Chrysanthemum can bring joy. I approach these floral paintings primarily with watercolour, as I feel it reflects the complexity and grace of the blooms.
