About The Artwork
This work is inspired by the filters we use in adjusting our self portraits online. I think that we underestimate the way we can adjust our self image by using technology. The reddish magenta background is one that I don't often get to explore, and wanted to see how I could cool the surface and place reflective greens and golds with it. In between layers of acrylic paint, and inks, there are layers of clear acrylic that enhance the reflectivity and gloss. I have been drawing inspiration lately from artwork labeled French Symbolism, and American transcendentalism/ visionary art. I hope the viewer is intrigued, and inspired by the work.
