About The Artwork
While visiting the Hopi reservation my guide took me down the steep incline of Second Mesa and showed me the work of a female tribe member known as Spider Woman. She performs her magic in private as she dances, chants and weaves her web of strings tied to a variety of feathers and stakes among the rocks, boulders and bushes. This display was meant to bring good fortune to the Hopi Tribe. I found that i had embarked on a very time consuming project when i decided to paint this fascinating subject.
