Spiral Painting

Did you know that the spiral is probably the oldest symbol still in use? For my third symbol painting, I decided to create a Spiral, because spirals have been calling me lately. Spirals have been found all over the world for as long as we've been making symbols. Humans have used spirals in art and as magical symbols since we were scratching them in stone. You can find them in Neolithic cave paintings, Egyptian hieroglyphs, Aboriginal art, and Neo-Pagan symbolism. So I think there is something about them that calls to us. Nobody knows exactly what the spiral meant in the beginning, but some suggestions have been the revolution of the Sun and other bodies in the sky, evolution, the cosmos, awareness of the one within the context of the whole, connectivity, and union. Spirals are very common in Nature, and I showed you some of them in the post I linked to above. I used a wet on wet technique again, and then dropped and splattered the came color. Owning this symbol and displaying it in your home or workspace will help you remember to honor your cycles.
