Spyhouse Nicollet Painting

I often come to cafes to write and plan different parts of my work week. I was sitting one day in late September and caught this moment of light streaming in the coffee shop windows and highlighting a woman in red jeans who was lost in the moment of her music and her own writing. There was something about the ambient light, the way the outside season was just on the verge of turning, and the sense of airy freedom that called out to me immediately and I started sketching what would become this five-foot painting and part of my original cafe series.
