About The Artwork
A distant view of St Peter's where the church cedes pre-eminence to the brilliantly illumined bridge. I have worked with very bold ochres and cadmium yellows for the bridge mixing a directly applied cadmium red, mixed with occasion cadmium yellow for the brilliant sky and water. The image deliberately teeters on the abstract, and hovers on the borders between impressionism and expressionism. I was moved by the eternal nature of water as it floods past the eternal city watched by the great, silent St Peter's.
