Stay Home (hot wax on OSB) Painting

I painted the artwork "Stay Home" as part of my Pandemic series. The inspiration for the painting is a Mother and Child statue in Budapest, a monument to a significant historical event in Hungary. I painted a mask on the mother's face to symbolize the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic that has affected people around the world. The image of a mother holding her dead child is a universal symbol of grief and loss, which I felt was especially important in times of global crisis. With this painting, I wanted to convey the idea that although the sources of our pain and suffering are different, we all share the experience of grief and loss. The epidemic affected us all in different ways, but it also brought us together in our collective struggle. This work is a reminder of the need for empathy, solidarity, and shared responsibility in difficult times. In recent years, I have used OSB as a basis. By retracting the paint layers, I use the texture of the veneer as part of my compositions to create a unique rustic industrial atmosphere. The painting is made with self-made paint, which basically consists of pigments and beeswax. Does not contain oil or other paints. The procedure itself dates back to antiquity and has been known for thousands of years. Only a few artists around the world work with wax on their own. The encaustic is equipped with a simple wooden exhibition frame, which harmonizes with the industrial style of the painting and highlights it well.
