2nd prize in Still life competition from The Australian Artist Magazine and Finalist of the St George Art Prize 2016 'Peeled lemon' is probably one of the most popular symbolic objects that many artists used it to feature in their painting for many centuries up until now. One of the meanings that intrigue me is ‘attractive to look, but bitter to taste’. It reflects some aspects in our lives that we should never judge a person by external appearances, as what we see on the outside may be completely different on the inside.

"My work explores the beauty of still life from objects and things around my life. I am inspired by the classical still life paintings especially from the Dutch and Flemish masters. My work often incorporates symbolic objects depicting the beauty of stillness, memory and transience. My concept is to create “Beauty” through the use of colour and composition that provokes thoughts on cultures, philosophies, place and time. Much of my work uses balanced composition with a sense of tranquillity. I am also inspired by the beauty of nature and flowers are one of my favourite subjects to paint. My painting style is realism and I paint predominantly in oil using traditional technique."
